House Bill 3690

House Bill 3690, currently in the Illinois Senate, potentially adds a new wrinkle to demands for possession for landlords in Cook County.

Essentially, the bill proposes that the name, birth date, and "disability" of each occupant be listed on the notice. For landlords for keep good records (as all should!) this shouldn't be that big of a problem, but for landlords who don't, and for the landlords who try to handle evictions on their own, it may represent another technical hurdle to overcome, potentially leading to more costs and most lost revenue as the apartment sits without rent-paying tenants.

The Swanson Firm represents both landlords and tenants in eviction matters throughout Chicago and Cook County. Although an area where many people think they can represent themselves, they often do so at great disservice to their interests, given numerous laws exist to create causes of action for minor slip-ups that can lead to big awards. We can evaluate your specific situation to determine the best causes of action and plan to maximize your recovery and protect your interests. Contact the Swanson firm today.
