Senate Bill 84 is likely to become law shortly. This is a very important bill for those injured on or as a result of action from the CTA (Chicago transit Authority).
Currently, to bring a claim against the CTA, you must comply with their notice provisions, which require a very detailed notice in a very short period of time. If you fail to provide this notice (or provide it wrong), your case is forever barred.
Surprisingly, many attorneys don't even know the extent and application of the CTA notice provisions. It's a dangerous trap for the unwary.
Senate Bill 84 will remove the notice requirements, however. The CTA doesn't like it, but everyone else should.
