I'm amazed that so many Attorneys fail to respond to new potential clients. Many of my clients tried calling other attorneys before me (a forgivable sin :) Those attorneys never called them back, never e-mailed them, and generally just brushed them off. Who knows, perhaps those attorneys or firms are so successful they don't need any more clients, if so, I congratulate them, but if not, why the attitute?
I'm not perfect, of course, and I'm not always available 24-7, but I make it a habit to take calls when I can and get back to potential and existing clients as soon as possible, generally within 24 hours, if not sooner.
Not only is this good practice and good customer service (and as service providers, our clients are our customers), it's required under the Illinois rules of professional responsibility.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I have been trying to get some legal direction for some time now and have been brushed off by most of the lawyers I have tried to contact leaving me angered and discouraged with our legal system.
ReplyDeleteIt may be that certain attorneys can't help you because they don't handle your types of matters or because they don't think your case is a winner, but they should at least tell you this. I don't always tell people what they want to hear, but I don't ignore them.
